Cleveland City Council’s Safety Committee and Mayor’s Appointments Committee are set to meet together to review Mayor Justin Bibb’s appointments to the Community Police Commission. The commission, given authority over police discipline and training by voters in 2021, has not met this year due to vacancies. Bibb made nine nominations last November. They require council’s approval.

Here are the nominations:

  • Tera Coleman (New Appointment - Term: Four-Year)
  • Maya Kincaid (New Appointment - Term: Four-Year)

  • Michael Nelson (New Appointment - Term: Four-Year)
  • Maura Garin (New Appointment - Term: Two-Year)
  • Untaya Miller (New Appointment - Term: Two-Year)
  • Imoh Umosen (New Appointment - Term: Two-Year)

There are 17 elected Cleveland City Council members representing the 17 wards of the City of Cleveland. Each ward has approximately 25,000 residents. Council Members are elected to serve a four-year term. Council members serve two roles in their duties: to draft and enact legislation for the city of Cleveland and act as ombudsmen for their constituents.
