Note: The CHA meeting is scheduled from 8:30am-1pm, but it has standing closed sessions from 8:30-9:30am and 11am-1pm. For the purposes of documenting, we think it will work best if you get there in time for the open session to start (around 9:15am) and stay through the closed session, as any votes need to be made in open session. Ideally, notetakers will be able to use this time to organize notes taken during the open session and live-tweeters will be able to send us photos of any meeting handouts. This is also a good assignment for those who are still learning to tweet. In general, we prefer that Twitter coverage of meetings be in-the-moment, but because of the length of the closed session, it’s fine if you want to draft tweets during the open session and post them during the closed session. Feel free to reach out with questions about this assignment.

The CHA Board of Commissioners is the governing body that determines policies and resolutions of CHA. The Board approves decisions that chart the direction of current and future programs and authorizes the actions of the Chief Executive Officer and his or her designees. The 10-member Board of Commissioners is confirmed by the Chicago City Council for staggered five-year terms. All commissioners must be residents of Chicago, and at least three commissioners must be CHA residents. Employees of CHA are not authorized to serve as commissioners.

Remote meetings are live-streamed on the Chicago Housing Authority’s Youtube channel. The video may not appear until at or a few minutes after the scheduled start time. If you do not see if right away, wait a few moments and try refreshing your Internet tab.
